Son of Maestro Pt. Ajay Pohankar, prolific music producer and keyboardist Abhijit Pohankar has released over 20 albums, has performed all over the word - in prestigious places like The North Sea Jazz Festival and the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool;and was featured in Buddha Bar in France. Combining the strength of Indian classical music and the softness of lounge music, he also palys with his band Soundz of India which has created a new fusion sound that they call the "New Age Indian Music".
About Abhijit Pohankar
Abhijit Pohankar is the face of new age Indian music. Producer, Composer, Singer and Indian Classical keyboardist, Abhijit is considered one of the most versatile and talented musicians of his generation. Abhijit has an impressive musical pedigree being the son of Indian Classical vocalist Pt. Ajay Pohankar and having studied under renowned santoor maestro Pt. Shivkumar Sharma.
Abhijit has a flamboyant performing style and he has mesmerised audiences around the world at prestigious venues like the Liverpool Philharmonic hall and other well-known concert venues. He has also collaborated with some top International talent like percussionist Talvin Singh. He is one of the few artists performing Indian Classical music today who is able to make it accessible and "cool" to the younger generation. And this is all thanks to his unique, "fun" performance style.
Abhijit came into the limelight with his new age album "Piya Bawari" which was included in the "Buddha Bar - France" compilation. He has produced more than 20 albums nationally and internationally. He fuses elements of traditional Indian music with Lounge and different world music sounds. His music videos are considered to be a treat to watch, shot in exotic locales like the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
