blueFROG Sound Branding

Brand Futurist, Martin Lindstrom wrote: “We must take account of the true power of the sound when building brands because sound creates a super addictive effect in the brain”

Most brands obsess about the colour, shape, size of their logo but very little attention is given to a brand sound. How many of you can recall the “Intel Pentium” jingle? That’s powerful sound branding right there, the ability to recognise a brand just by hearing a tune. blueFROG has over the past 5 years established itself as a curator of great music. We have programmed bands and DJs from all over the world. The ability to connect music with brands and their customers is our core strength and with over 60 years of cumulative experience via blueFROG directors & founding members in branding & advertising we are well placed to understand brands and create customised radio channels for inflight entertainment systems, retail outlets, restaurants, clubs and public spaces.

For the last 3 years we have created bespoke in-store radio channels for retail giants Shoppers Stop, Nike and KFC and are in the process of expanding our reach to other brands. We playlist the music, create content and record in our own studios. We have a dedicated team of writers, music experts, RJs and engineers and have the ability to create content in different regional languages, thereby allowing our partners to have customised radio all across the country. When the Taj Group of Hotels launched Vivanta, blueFROG created their entire audio brand signature.
The concept having taken flight, the next step was to program a blueFROG radio channel for Jet Airways, blueFROG ON AIR, which currently can be heard across their international sectors. Click here to check it out. Next stop frogTV.

“We had this idea of creating music specifically for a brand we were working on. This is not something you do routinely & we tossed the idea to blueFROG. They were enthusiastic, appreciative & quickly got to the core of the requirement.  We jelled really well; our team had a ball working with them; and most importantly, we got exactly what we wanted!! We were so thrilled ….we are asking for more! ”

“Nike India through its association with blueFROG presently offers a choice of music that caters to young shoppers at Nike retail. For the first time ever, we’ve been able to identify a partner who has sound technology and a wide assortment of music that helps Nike deliver a high level consumer experience.”

blueFROG in the Top Ten Live Music Venues In Mumbai – The Guardian

‘It would not be an exaggeration to say that Blue Frog has revolutionised the live music scene in Mumbai. When it opened in the former mill-district-turned-media-hub of Lower Parel in December 2007, the 400-capacity restaurant/bar’s plans to hold gigs six nights a week seemed ambitious. By December 2011, the gamble had proved so successful that it launched a branch in New Delhi.’

blueFROG “ADE” Special – India meets West – a party hosted by blueFROG at the world’s biggest Club festival. The first time a club in Asia has hosted a party at this festival.

Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is still restricted to certain dance floors in the country’s metros. And clubs around the country, more so in Mumbai, have actively been promoting the genre by offering local artistes as much exposure as they can possibly provide. The latest initiative sees one of Mumbai’s premier music venues – Blue Frog – sending Indian talents Jalebee Cartel, Ankytrixx, Ma Faiza, Dual Drive and DJ Janux (along with European DJs Isis, James Harcourt and Oliver Moldan) to this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).

blueFROG is credited with saving the live music scene in Mumbai by Time Out Mumbai, in its Anniversary issue. Mumbai’s Game Changers:

“When blueFROG opens in Delhi this November, the live music venue will bring to the capital a short but powerful legacy : giving local musicians a stable platform, bringing fantastic international acts to the country and always, always putting the music first. With it’s iridescent seating pods and the city’s best sound system, the snazzy Lower Parel club has been such a game changer for Mumbai that its modern music scene could be divided into two distinct periods : Before Blue Frog and after Blue Frog.”

blueFROGGIES get out of the urban jungle and hit the nature trail! The Frog Walk in Sanjay Gandhi National Park. July 25th, 2011

blueFROG is undertaking a project to study Frog habitats, being blueFROG after all…but more importantly the Frog, because it breathes through its skin, is actually a very accurate barometer of climate change. When Frogs start dying out, we know that their immediate habitat has become contaminated. We want to learn hands-on what pollution and indiscriminate destruction of natural habitats can do to the planet’s climate and to what detriment, as species continue to die out, forests shrink and natural disasters abound.

So on Monday July 25th, 2011, a grey, drizzly day, 30 enthusiastic blueFROGGIES trekked through the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, a well-known Frog habitat and one of the water catchment areas feeding Bombay. Not only did we learn about and see Frogs, we saw exotic varieties of crabs, spiders (including a pregnant female tarantula who was not happy to see us!), butterflies, caterpillars and numerous species of plants, ferns and exotic flowers. We handled abandoned spider homes, smelled wild turmeric leaves and stood ankle deep in a stream while being educated on the importance of preserving habitats and the ecological impact of the legal and illegal trade in Frogs’ legs. Though our jeans were damp when we left, our spirits certainly weren’t! And we’re determined to spread the word about habitat and Frog preservation!
We’re going to be holding a series of these walks that will be informative and educational, yet fun! Watch this space!
