blueFROG’s take on Oikyotaan
Bonnie Chakraborty, also known in the music industry for his collaborations with directors like AR Rahman among others, is presenting his very own project that he's been carrying for the last 12 years. Oikyotaan is a platform for Indian folk music, and the live show expresses the relationship between Baul and Hindustani classical music.

All about Oikyotaan
Oikyotaan aims at reaching a space between, Folk and Contemporary music, where both the forms complement each other, without displacing the essential sound elements and the aesthetics of the other. They would be presenting a selection of originals, along-with some Traditional Baul (Bengali folk) songs which explore the relationship between Indian Folk and Classical music.
Oikyotaan has performed at some of the most prestigious World Music Festivals across the globe. Centered around Baul music (A particularly Indian version of Dervishm, in fact the proponents of this genre of music are called Darbesh in East India, Dehawtawtta, Biched, Bhatiyalli, Jhumur, Fakiri, Myanjbhandari and Jaree-Sharee Gaan from Eastern India). The sound concentrates on building lyrical phrases within a layered rhythm of Contemporary, Folk and Classical instruments.
Elements of different Folk forms like Mand from Rajasthan; Chaita and Neergun from Bihar; Carnatic Classical from South India are infused together to give birth to a new genre of Global Indian Contemporary Sound and Space, which is very high in spiritual content in terms of the lyrics.
